Suppose it is a small forward step, compared to the big backwards one taken when Concorde was grounded

Like the 747 eh!! - Get these statistics.. out of the 1000 made, 1.5% have crashed not including the ones that have been blown up by terrorists etc!

one is at manchester airport
- I sometimes used to here the Sonic Boom from Concorde here as they hit the afterburners once out over the atlantic

The Antonov 124s that have flown into Boeing Field in Seattle have to run their engines at full power for 5 min with the brakes on to close up the clearances in the 'hot section' before taking off.

Western engines use 'active clearance control' which is not a feature on the Russian engines.

I'm going to let time be the judge on whether or not the A380 is a success, but I suspect that it will only be used successfully on trans-oceanic routes and for cargo.

I know for certain that I don't want to show up at an airport with 600 other people on the same plane and go to baggage claim. Its also very likely that you won't be the only plane there at the time, creating an even bigger mess.

There are only 4 airports in the US that have expressed an interest in upgrading the facilities to accomodate the A380. LAX, JFK, Memphis (cargo), and one other one that I can't remember. The common explanation is 'why spend a billion dollars for 2 or 3 flights/day?' Hard to argue with that logic.

I think you overdid it a little bit. "Air supremacy" version of the Tornado has been in the service for quite a while. And it goes how fast Mach 2? Or maybe my memory is failing me.

And there always are middle range AA missles and long range SA missles.

I had a look into this cus I couldn't believe it and gotta admit I was surprised!

Every version of Tornado I could find could only do 2300kph is is Mach 1.93

Concord could do mach 2.2!

However the RAF had 118 F4 Phantoms which could do mach 2.4

I checked on the book and it says that ADV version can do ~Mach 2.2. And in modernised avionics version can be armed with AMRAAM/ASRAAM missles - they do what mach 4? mach6? Enough...

In terms of high speed there is no match for Mig-25 in fighter plane class

Well if the government of the day hadn't of canned the BAC TSR.2 then the RAF wouldn't have had a problem keeping up, still at least a verison of it's engines went onto good use hmmm I wonder where .

Mig 25 Foxbat was good for Mach 3.5, but they had to change engines after each flight that they went that fast.

They were built to chase SR-71s

Yeah it went easly enough.

Cant see why they would think it would fly as there are bigger cargo planes out there.

There a HOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUGGGGGEEEEE Russian cargo plane the biggest in the world i think and that thing is just crazy! Fitts like a Train with a couple of carriges in side

It is called "Mryia" (?sp) which means 'dream'

I've seen an AN-124 up close and it is freaking huge. The -225 is bigger still.....YOWZA
