Default too much pedal travel

the brake pedal..

Just recently when I push the brake pedal, nothing happens until its near the bottom.. I can pump it once, then it works perfectly. They work fine but abit annoying as I want instant braking not a second later once the pedal is near the floor.

Hmmm, had all sorts of funwith mine converting to rear discs: Still not 100% similar to what you are experiencing. I'm hoping when my 300mm front setup goes on and the abs is removed it will cure the problem

air in system. if bleeding them (properly) doesn't help, its likely your master cyl is fubared. i managed to f**k my M/S on the XR4i when bleeding them, new (well, from the scrappy ) cured it.

it started happening from when the load compensator was replaced I think..

see i got some work done for an mot, and I think a load compensator needed changing but the guy also said that he had changed pipes at the back to copper pipes..

westy its simple, it IS air in the pipes, you just gotta work out if thats caused by poor bleeding or if something is broken.

if you not got a cap on the fluid will be shagged as it absorbs moisture.

sounds like you got air in too, so totally bleed the brakes with new fluid.

when he replaced the lines, he should have bled the system... i see two possibilities:

1) he didn't
2) when bleeding the system the M/S got shagged (v. common)
