Default motorbikes: learning?

Think this year I want to look into getting a motorbike.

after a few posts on here a few people are into it?

what sorta costs are those quick pass courses?

bearing in mind i've never been on a bike before.

what are insurance costs and tax and fuel etc like?
im 25 obviously no bike experience.

and how manageable would they be to do 100 miles journey on?

any info grately appreciated

Right then first of you have to take your theory test ....... fookin thing

Then seeing as though youve never been on a bike your looking at a 5 day DAS which is about Ł500 although check MCN for exact rates

Insurance will be cheap if you go for TPFT as theres many speicalists in this area of cover , get yourself the bike trader and play them off against each other

Tax for a bike like mine is Ł60 a year , and fuel wise I put in say Ł10-Ł11 and get 160 miles before the reserve so say 175 miles full to empty , and I dont exactly ride it like Miss Daisy either

As for your first bike that depends on what you want ? Sports or Commuter

i'm relocating 100 miles away from where I live now.

I have a new company car so commuting aint a concern... and the odd few unreliable project cars (mk2 fiesta turbos)

so really the bike is intended just for sports fun, but id want to be able to get home quicker than I can currently (traffic and lack of overtaking chances in a turbo diesel! means 100 miles takes bit over 2 hours on a friday afternoon)

what sorta bikes would you go for?

Bike servicing is the same as a car mate infact Id say it was easier as everythings smaller

How much would you spend and I can give you a rough Idea what youd get for your money , the CBR600F has being going over 10 years mate

dont forget the clothing, good quality gear will cost Ł700 if a volvo driver pulls out in front of you, you may need it.My advice is unless your really into bikes leave them alone.

Surely alot of the time it depends what speed you are doing and how aware / pre-emptive YOU are as a rider also
