Default Anybody knowledgable with the 2.5t engine?

Got my Mondeo here, been faultless until last time I took it out, WOT at low rpm ie around 2k as it pulls it gets to about 3k and really stutters hard, then after about 4K will pull clean again.

its sporadic, it did it last time I had it out, but then cured itself but now it’s back again.

plugs are new before this issue arose and gapped, unplugged maf and no difference, visually inspected pipework and couldn’t find any splits, engine appears healthy other than this stutter/misfire, do the coil packs go on these?

Ive plugged Forscan into it and no codes, not even a misfire one?

anyone had or heard of similar issues?

thanks.

I thnk them solenoids are common. You need to buy yourself a Forscan. Its a diagnosic tester just for fords. I bought mine off ebay for about 8 quid then you go on the Forscan website and download the software.

Its such a simple system to operate. You could log the turbo boost and do a roadtest and watch it on the laptop.

the forscan has helped me out with my diesel donkey mondeo.

Don't think the boost solenoid gives a code.

Thanks guys

glenn I must of bored you with my post as I say I’ve plugged forscan into it and no codes 🤣🤣 but yes I’ll look at logging my boost, iirc I couldn’t find a requested boost table only the MAP reading, also I was unsure if I’ve got a misfire if that would interrupt the boost as well making it not a definitive test.

GVK yea that’s what I was getting off google, and the symptoms are pretty much identical to the solenoid going as well.

Thick as foook me.... i can't read for shit ha ha. Is it all the time or just every now and then??

I had a ST170 that at certain revs was stuttering. That turned out to be the filter on the fuel pump in the tank blocked.

Boost solenoid tends to only boost to 1/4 on gauge, does Mondeo have gauge? Kinda hit or miss when give it some

I’ve a mate who has worked for Volvo for 25 years he said there very very good engines and said the boost solenoids are a service item with Volvo. Didn’t cost much off Matt Lewis and easy to change at work on the ramp

Yes and no on a run 70mph can see over 34 mpg boot it then its like a cossie.
But hey it does more than my old petrol 2.3 galaxy with the added fun factor.
What else can do 8 secs to 60 with a boot full of crap. I buy what i wanna drive regardless of economy.
I could do what other's do hsve a new car on pcp so i can look the part put a tenner in the tank and put budget tyres on it cos thats all they can afford.

👍

There is the zafira vxr that contends with the smax 2.5, it’s a shame the smax didn’t come with a kind of sport bodykit, as that’s what sets the zafira apart.

the Mondeo 2.5 would do 39mpg at a push so wasn’t that bad on fuel, there is some differences between the Mondeo and focus engine, I don’t know why the focus gets such low mpg though.

Gear ratios are different hence the focus is quicker of the line.
Book top end on a smax is 146 mph which is silly I'd rather have low end acceleration.

I’ve never seen over 26 on my focus lol. I even thought it must have something wrong with it but emissions are spot on. Looking at the forums 22-28 are normal

You have to press and hold the ok button when its on fuel consumption as it resets it. You will see the bars on the top of display.
