Hi all, I have had a lot of porkers but never owned a coxster, I have driven them a lot and spent a fair bit of seat time in one on track, always liked them and felt they were better than the 996 cab 911 that we had.
This one is 280 bhp 3.2s manual 2005. Black interior with heated sports seats, 19 inch alloys, sat nav. The sports exhaust sound epic over 5000 rpm. 170 mph and 0-60 in 5.5.
I do fancy an S as it would much more usable than a kitcar.
I really need to sit in one. I get told at a large 6’3” and size 13 feet I won’t enjoy it
my mate ran one as a daily, then a Cayman s, he is 18 stone and 6’3, no problems at all.
my one has sports seats which are thinner and it has, thinner base as an option, it probably gives an inch or so extra. If ever down this way come and have a go.
i was all set to buy an Elise mK1 tomorrow but having looked at it I couldn’t get my daughters school bags in, it had leaked being outside and it was much older and more money, plus the roof is a pain, I drive roof down all the time in my TT but the elec roof in U.K. climate is very useful compared to 5 mins with the Elise.

Thanks James, the TT is going as really cannot have 7 cars. It has started to knock on bottom end so enough is enough and I am going to break it up for spares as they fetch good money in bits.
Nice car mate. I think people misjudge them if they haven’t driven one.
I’ve been looking at one to share with my dad as I’d probably not use it much but I do fancy one
agreed, my mate in France is always on about buying a convertible, I have told him to buy a boxster and he says he could never be seen in a poor mans Porsche, so he does without...seems odd to me.

Dont tell me you got it cheap😂been looking for that spec for over 6months.
100k, quite a lot but not too much for the age. Good history etc.
I was putting a limit of 85k miles on mine as already done 2 engine builds on my last ones. Great car good fun to drive especially when tweaked like my last one.
Nice. Make sure you keep those drain channels clear otherwise you’ll get water in the car and it floods the alarm module (under the pass seat)
My mate had exactly this issue as his lived outside. It rained heavily and his alarm started going crazy one night. Found out his floor was soaked under the carpets and the alarm ecu sits in all the water.

‘thanks, it will be garaged but will check the drains anyway.
the engines are good as long as the rear main seal does not leak or the ims bearing doesn’t leak. The newer 3.4 engines also suffer from bore wear / scoring.
Some cars go on to starship miles and others can need engine builds. But like most cars it can depend on owner abuse more than bad engines.
both mine needed engine builds the first I brought broke a water in oil turned out to be a rotten core plug. Second had flaking coating on bores and worn chains and guides. So I linered and forged pistons to 3.4lt and made 309hp from 252hp.
neither had leaking rear mains or ims bearing problems.
great cars and looking for another but a 3.4lt with bore scoring at the right price is what I want.
Very nice car! I looked at these in the past. Been a while though since I had a look at them, I was following a build someone was doing on one of these where he replaced the boxster engine with a s4 engine till it caught fire. Was a shame looked like a good conversion.
Really like the Porsche lobster claws, one type of wheel I've always wanted to own but never got hold of a set.

Nice!
I had a 986 Boxster S manual, it was a fun car. I was looking at buying a 981 Cayman as I've sold my BMW now.

Your BMW was bonkers - why did you sell it?
The Cayman is a lovely car and even better chassis, they tend to have geometry less likely to understeer. I was quite impressed how much quicker the 987 280 bhp was compared to the 250 in the 986 that I drove a while back...not checked the torque.

I had it pushed to 750bhp and 680lb ft but got used to it and felt it was time for a de-clutter of cars and change for something a little crazzier, plus I have my first child on the way! So sold the Skyline, Fiesta and BMW and just done a deal to import something from America. I'll do a post about that when it arrives but should make the BMW feel very tame!
Still want another Porsche but will wait it out for a 981 I think. I love the way they drive!

nice one, sounds something interesting is on its way...I have a guess based on what you have written.

I keep looking at either a supercharged charger as I enjoyed driving one down to Key West. The 5.0 Mustang wasn't too bad but felt disconnected steering wise.

Ha! I'd be surprised! It does have a lot more power and a lot less weight than the BMW. I won't clutter your thread talking with it though!

The BMW was a fun car! I do miss it but needs must. And nope, wanted something much more raw, and old...
