Default failed...

As you all know i am about to drop our baby in 6 weeks!!

so i have been having driving lessons since september to try and pass my test before she comes into the world!

So i've changed instructors from my original one to the one i'm with now, coz i felt the first one was shite LOL and i've been doing my best to learn.

I passed my theory and everythings going fine
Rudey bought me my pug and that made me loads more motorvated!!

And also with Central Day coming i wanted to pass before that so i could drive there... even more motorvation!!

so i booked my test....

TOMORROW 1.33PM.

BUT NOW IT'S ALL GONE TITS UP!!

I had to cancel my lesson last Monday due to having to see the midwife (everythings fine) and i thought i had a lesson on the Friday at 12.30, so wasn't too worried etc.

Well thursday comes and theres a knock at my door and its my instructor "r u ready 4 ya lesson?" ..

i'm in my dressing gown and have just woke up so my reply was "it's tomorrow at half one!" "no today 12.30pm"
well thats that lesson fooked then. so we left it with him saying "ring me"

So Faye and Alex came up at weekend so i forgot to call him, and rang him Tuesday morning saying "i know its late and all that but is there any chance of gettin a lesson in before the one before my test?"

No phone call back...

It's now Thursday and my lessons tomorrow and i only have my one hour lesson before my test to learn where the oil, water etc is as i have never looked under the bonnet!, i've not been to test centre!, and i feel like he feels i wont pass so he's not bothered.

And so now i feel i dont care if i pass because he doesn't care, and also my car won't be insured and taxed for sunday so thats killed the majority of my motorvation...

But the worst thing is, if i dont pass i'm not going to be able to get another test date until after the baby is born due to the wait!

I'm going to call him again today but am i just acting spoilt, or am i right to feel let down??

hiya,

I would feel let down as well, but try and prove him wrong, you never know what will happen......

I got my car in January and my test was booked in March, so with under 3 months I didn't think I would have much chance, I was doing my lessons in my own car until after a couple of weeks (and 2 lessons) the gearbox went, nightmare!!, after i got that sorted (and 2 more lessons), I then had to have an op on my head and could not drive for a few weeks, 2 weeks before my test only fitting in 4 lessons i phoned my driving instructor begging him to try and fit me in for as many lessons as he could to be told " I'm sorry but I can't do it I have been banned from driving!!"

AAAhhhh, so that was that, luckly for me i could drive around with steve, so at the weekend we drove around and around.........

and I passed,

Good Luck with your test!!

Offer to pay him for the missed lessons, maybe thats his gripe, 2 lost hours?

What a wounder, i bet your feeling really down
What you could do, is drag scotty down to the nearest used car centre and pretend to want to buy a similar model car (Corsa..metro, micra, whatever it is) and Scotty can show you round the oil, water etc... Then move onto another showroom and you show Scott where it is so you know youve got it

Dont worry too much.. nerves are the biggest cause of failure for sure.

i feel like he feels i wont pass so he's not bothered.
I would of thought that if he thinks you wont pass he would be itching to get more cash out of you for more lessons!

hun i know how u feel, my instructor used to ring me and cancel lessons cos he was juggling so many students, and it made me feel like i wasnt his priority... the oil water etc is really easy, and wont take 2 mins to learn, even my sister can do it and thats a miracle hehe...

take the test anyway. i honestly feel even if u dont pass the experience of a test environement is the best lesson ur going to learn about driving, and give u so much confidance if you do fail... big fingers crossed u pass... but honestly, its not the end of the world if you dont cos u will have time to prepare more after. but try keep calm and focus on the test

really good luck!!

I kinda had the same thing when i did my hgv test, i came to stay at my mums place as that is where my test was booked. Sat in bed at about 9.30 and i get a phone call....."Hi Joe its the training centre, are you coming to the lesson today?"
Me" well it aint till 10.30 is it?", "no that is when youre test is the lesson should have started at 9"

Shit the bed shower shave got out the door into the metro 25 mins down the road, got there at 10.15, straight to the centre no lesson, hadnt driven for a week and passed it first time with 5 minors....Didnt even have time think let alone worry...

You will be fine, enjoy it and stay clam...Sure youll be fine...

Good luck

The panic will pass, Rudey can show you where the oil and water goes etc and explain what to look for so no worries there. If you feel you need a bit more practise, have a ring round and see if you can get another lesson from someone else (in the same car ) later today or tomorrow before your test....chin up

Dont worry about the oil/water thing - even if they ask you to show them where it is and you dont know, its only 1 minor I *think*

You never know, if you feel you dont think you're going to pass you might relax more and not mess up by trying to do everything too perfect - when i passed my test I thought I'd failed from the beginning so didnt care after that, and passed

Good luck with it though hun!!

i feel more positive now after reading your replies, i feel like i have you all supporting me, and pushing me (which is what i need! lol)

i suppose you are all right, and basically i should just be thinking :

"well if i fail it was an experience but also I'M GONNA PROVE YOU WRONG INSTRUCTOR!" Pmsl!!

well i've called him again today and answer phone AGAIN so if i dont hear from him till tomorrow then sod it i'll just have to make the most of my one lesson before my test.

Gonna get Scott to show me where the water etc goes in the pug and then i should have a rough idea on the corsa (i hope lol!)

Well CheeRS people

TemptRS, where abouts are you hun? Anywhere near (ish) Milton Keynes?

If you're not too far away I dont mind sitting in on you driving for a few hours, ive got access to a little 1.1 Escort thats insured for learner drivers if you dont have a car to use too.

cheers clare i'm in notts, but i think i'm just gonna wait till tomorrow, coz i'm worried if i change cars too often then i will get confused!! LOL

i've been reversing the RS into the garage, The pug around the drive and then when i get in the corsa i get confused as to where Reverse is (too many changes lol) and i have to look and i think thats a minor in itself. God dammit

hope i can keep my temper tomorrow for my instructors sake lol

Corsa Engine bay:
Although i cant find a std looking one on web anywhere

Just look for the yellow on all modern cars and associate its area with likelyhood for oil, water or braking fluids

remember on most Corsas i can recall top of my head...

Yellow bottle nearest to widscreen is windscreen washer water.

Yellow capped bottle with black pipe going to engine is engine water.

cap on engine is always oil filler.

The yellow stick is to check oil level.

The above is pretty much spot on for all Corsas i can think of, so just memorise them as they are pretty sensibly placed really

On the day of my test I had my lesson and pulled up outisde the test centre carpark to pass a couple of minutes before my test was due. Casually my instructor asked me to recite some number plates and pointed at a car, I said "I can't read that from here, no chance!" She said "Erm you must be joking? That is less than the required distance to pass your test!"

Arse was my first thought, something relatively out of my control - you get taught all the driving skills and you know when you are ready but to be let down by your eyesight on the day of your test was a right bugger!

Fortunately my examiner didn't test it from the full distance and I just about passed!

I'm pretty confident now that i've got that pic as a guidline, i should be okay. It's always the littlest things that create the biggest of worries lol

Thank you all for your help

Tell the examiner that if you don't pass your test you won't be able to drive yourself to the hospital when the baby comes
