I dont think closed cell foam would have enough mass to stop the deeper noises resonating through the floorpan, could be wrong. I've seen it used in sills etc. Ford tend to put bags of closed cell insulation pieces in sealed plastic bags, and rigid closed cell blocks are oftend bonded to the inside of panels, i think thats more to reduce the cheap metallic vibration sounds when shutting doors etc though.

I think it would be fine for just padding, as long as it's going to remain springy after continued use. You might even be able to find a foam layer that;s backed with something else to add mass. For what reason cant you use bitumen style pads, keeping weight down/future welding planned?

Plan was to cover the foam on dynamat bitumen stuff, but that on its own isnt thick enough to pad out the carpet so it’ll be baggy as the fiber bitumen original stuffs about 20mm thick

Hi Marky, what are you looking to achieve? Just padding out the carpet a bit?

Closed cell works well under carpets and wont absorb any water should there be a leak or anything spilt.

We use it extensively when we sound deaden cars

Have a look at this to see how we did our Orion https://passionford.com/forum/restor...d-finally.html

We used semi closed cell foam to help absorb road noise.

If you need to source anything just give me a shout
