your thoughts on this tuning package.....?
for my Mercedes C63....standard is 457bhp and 0-60 in 4.3 seconds....limited to 155.....they also sent several dyno print outs ranging from 544bhp to 553....so id be looking at a 0-60 of around 3.5 seconds and a top speed nearing 200mph.....I recently spent £250 on a generic 510bhp remap download and was decidedly unimpressed but maybe the car had already been remapped....the transmission and throttle mapping sounds interesting....
.
We have another option that the CLK63 Black series had a more aggressive throttle mapping and we can integrate this straight into your car if you wished at no additional charge. We update the gearbox maps at the same time at no additional costs. We should see 0.8 seconds off the 0-60 speed and the 40-80 will be improved by over 1.9 seconds.
I have attached some dyno printouts for you to have a look at, great results from the W204s. If you wanted to get tuned this week I would do the engine remap and the gearbox remap at a massive discount. The engine remap retail price is £1200+vat and our new gearbox remap with the rev matching blip on downshifts and the black series throttle mapping should be an additional £250+vat. I will do this at a Discount price of £950+vat for both of the modifications.
We don’t personally offer the exhaust modifications but can write the software to suit any changes that you make.
This price includes our full aftersales software support package, this is three years of unlimited callouts to either reinstall the software if it is overwritten during a software update from the main dealer, also if it is going in for any warranty work where the car will be test driven we will revert the car to standard to ensure the obvious power increases do not provoke any questioning from the warranty manager. These callouts are unlimited, and we will come to any location required, with just the cost of travel covered.
Kind regards

The DMS remap really does transform the C63 bringing you up to 544bhp, the car copes with this very well. The power delivery is very linear, and traction is very good in the dry. We also de restrict the top speed so you would see 200mph in the right place and conditions.

I should add my boss had a generic remap done on his bmw 340 by someone else and didn't think it felt right so he went to these guys and had a £600 remap done to just his engine....he says the difference is night and day between before and after and has recommended them to me....

The C63 is restricted as standard, it closes the throttle at high RPM. It's the same engine as the E63 which is unrestricted.
DMS figures are massively overblown. These cars struggle to make the stock quoted power. They are worth mapping as they are then de restricted so the top end gains are good. However you will not notice any extra torque. The real gain is about 35bhp on a standard car.
If the throttle is wide open on your current map, then the DMS tune will not make any more power. As i say, it won't feel any quicker than stock as the torque is unchanged.
Rick.

I think supercharging one of these would make it almost undrivable in damp conditions

The supercharger sounds interesting.
My friend has used DMS on a few cars and highly rated them. He had a 507 spec. He also had an SLS gullwing until recently (I think similar engine to yours) and the biggest improvement was the gearbox remap - he was going to sell it almost straight away but kept the car long term after the map.

its 4.3 standard....should bd 4.1 with the 510 remap so id probably expect 3.9 with 550 bhp but apparently its the transmission and throttle map that makes the difference.. .ill report back when its done in 2 weeks.....

.. .... 550bhp is adequate...I feel a supercharged 750bhp version might be a little to much...ill get this work done the week after next and ill take it to a unconnected rolling road for a print out and see where we are......:but an search of dms automotive has shown up many positive comments on other sites and forums.

I understand obviously those can be fudged but ive not heard/read any bad stories on other forums and ive been told a couple of first hand good recommendations so I'm willing to give it a go to find out.....

They are well known for it. They quote over 600bhp for a Porsche 997.1 turbo. They run so much boost on these that they actually end up making less power than stock, just massive torque.
Think about it, how are you going to get an extra 50bhp from a N/A engine?
Also, do you have a generic map on yours at the moment? If you do, then you will feel no difference going to the DMS, trust me I spend all day every day on the dyno. If it isn't mapped, then you will feel a difference, but only above 5500rpm or so.

it has a generic map on it....i bought it 3 months ago and it was claimed it had been mapped but there was no proof....i got another map added and felt no noticeable difference so either both maps were shit or it had been mapped previously and the new one cancelled that out....so I'm looking at a more proven option.....dms seem to have a good reputation.....
what's your opinion on transmission and throttle remaps....?

If it's the big na smg motor I can't see any huge gains to be had, takes a fair chunk of power to make a small difference ime, my rs6 for example 560 hp 0-100 mph 8.6 seconds, remap to 690 hp 0-100 mph 7.5 seconds, had similar gains with my gtr gaining 120 hp on ethanol

6.2 V8 motor.....whats the best thing to go for with a grand to spend....? its just been had an engine, transmission and rear axle service and its in good order..... not got big money to spend on it and wont ever go down the big power supercharged route....
the car comes in 3 options....457....487 and 507 bhp....if its assumed you can squeeze 8-10% from a NA car is gaining 45-50 bhp from the 507 version realistic ....?
all of the specialists im looking at online in house remaps give similar figures from standard 455ish to 511 for a general £500/£600 remap, if a generic £250 remap isn't going to give anywhere near the figures claimed is a double the price 510bhp in house remap with a transmission remap going to be more honest figures giving a noticeable improvement or just more expensive crap....?
is there any honest figures/claims out there or are they all blaggers and bullshitters....?

This is the plots of my rs6 base line is the standard map, top 2 lines the tuned map, switchable from in car just a little sequence to do ignition on before starting to change map, verified with 2 v box pulls 8.6 down to 7.5 seconds 0-100 mph, worth asking if standard map is retainable as nice to know real gains to go along with a Dyno plot

1001nm.....!
I didn't know you could do that....I assume that requires very expensive specialist equipment to be able to switch maps? in hindsight the first thing I should have done when I got the car was to get a power run print out so I had a definite idea of where I was starting from.
the garage that sold me the car said in chatting it had been remapped but there was no proof in the extensive service history file to prove this so I assumed he was bullshitting.
I did get a cheap (£250 ) generic remap done when it was in getting a warranty repair and was disappointed.....it felt it had made it ever so slightly worse by taking the edge of the performance it had previously.
im not really experienced in such high performance cars so its all a learning curve to me ! previous experience of remaps has been the cheap end diesels that did make a big difference.
im not really sure what sort of price a good/high end remap should cost as theres a lot of bullshit out there ?

Car is totally bog standard just remap, can't remember exactly but remap wasn't cheap but theyve done a remarkable job, with mapping or tuning location and cost is further down the list than making sure the job is done well and right !
Avoid JDM garage con artist Paul at all costs !
I can't remember now exactly what I do but with ignition on I push pedals and switches and on tacho 1000 rpm is stock, 2000 rpm is tuned map, 3000 rpm is immobilised.
As far as me getting anything tuned goes the rs6 was quite tame as standard 574 ps 767 nm, but tuned to 688 mm 1001 nm it is alot more violant if I don't reel it in gentle on the throttle in low gears it tries to break traction at all 4 and TC cuts in and it falls on its face lol
I'm genuinely unconvinced that any gains would justify the cost on an n/a motor of just a remap, big cost small gains mate
