its all new to me really so I welcome peoples input....its a lot of money to spend so id rather be sure its going to be worth it before I spend it !

so even going for a live mapping session on a rolling road isn't going to give me noticeable returns to be worth the money ?

I see MSL have a Glasgow agent saving me a long drive to Birmingham....

That depends if you are restricted or not - if you already have a map that opens the throttle all the way to the limiter then there won't be noticeable gains. It would be different if you were standard.

I don't know what the map is that's in it...….250 quid probably wasn't my wisest spending choice.....
ecotone in Glasgow (im near Edinburgh) also tell me the standard figure will be below the book 457bhp....they do an in house remap, miltek decat and rolling road print out with figures claimed as being a realistic 500bhp....for 975 all in..... does a miltek secondary decat let it breath better releasing another couple of horses or does that just bring more noise to the party?

2 current options.....(original post option has been discounted)

option 1 - eurocharged stage 1 software with hand held flash unit allowing the car to be switched from standard to remapped as required, no other mods required...………..claimed 510bhp @ Ł650

option 2 - miltek decat , in house ecotune remap and rolling road before and after power runs....claimed 510bhp @ Ł975

im favouring option 2 because it has something more substantial than just software witch craft......what would you go for...….?

In the VAG world Ecotune seems to have a good rep (I have an Edition 30 Golf) So I would go for option 2

they sponsored a day at crail quarter mile raceway a couple of months ago and had a couple of quick cars there. I visited their shop today for a chat.....looks like the way forward . a miltek secondary decat and their own in house remap and dyno run to back up the figures rather than just claimed figures.....

maybe hand held flash units are the way they do it nowadays but I don't really like the sound of that MSL option, I mean why would I need a hand held flash unit ( whatever that is...) to swap it back and forward from standard to tuned? I just want a remap with proven power and at no point will it need to be standard again ....

Whatever you do as Rick has posted, just be aware that if your current remap is able to run flat out you may not see any gains. Or not many...

I'm a bit old fashioned with the switchables maps etc, can't see the point unless you turn it down for winter use or whatever.

im even more old fashioned than you ….id just press the pedal a little more gently rather than unnecessary gadgetry…....

what would you say is an achievable power output with a remap from standard? is the universally claimed 510bhp about the limit I can expect or is that also over estimated?

I don't know on your engine, as I said previously I'd go with whatever Rick posted.
