Default St170

Help needed I have a st170 been running ok for sometime, recently it has started to lose power then kick in again, thought it could be a break down in coil pack leads or plugs so I changed them all in one go, but seems to be still doing it, was told a wire in the coil pack loom gets hot and expands and cuts of the coil pack spark any ideas what wire it is if anyone has had this problem

seeing as you have changed the coil pack and hts I take it you did plugs at same time using platinum ones, if yes then poss a failing cat or the IMRC as both cause power loss

've did the plugs imrc is fine cat is fine. Diagnostic saying primary b coil pack which is a wire either going to or from it just don't know which one apparently it's a common fault on st170 but never had it before

Check the loom going from the ecu to the coil pack. My brother had a 1.6 focus that would randomly misfire when hot. Changed the usual suspects but no joy, then pulled the loom apart to find a broken wire. Repaired the wire and all was good.

Tbh mate I can’t remember what colour the wire was, it was about 5 years ago. Best thing to do is peel the loom back and inspect.

My old ST170 was doing what you described. I found that the filters in my fuel sender were covered in shit.
