MK1 Focus RS quaife LSD identification
Sending my FRS gearbox off to Bara Motorsport for a rebuild as 3rd gear seems to be needing attention.
I bought this box second hand off eBay years ago and just got it in and working so I could test it.
Is there any way by looking at the diff through the driveshaft holes that I can be sure the quaife diff is still intact?

In short no. Those spiral grooves tell you it’s a quaife diff though

Thanks mate all I wanted to know.
Had a horrible feeling the diff had been removed seeing as I've been sold a box as good working order which isn't.

Also if I was you I'd send it to Steve at Northampton gearbox centre. He owns a focus rs and has rebuilt dozens of these boxes. Waaaaaay cheaper than anywhere I found.

Steve has built loads of these boxes for the owners club members.
Mine was blasted powder coated new diff bearings many new other bits and bearings. Less than £400.
He does look after the OC members though. Give them a call and ask for Steve.
