can anyone remember a long thread on here about 10+ years ago about some bods who found and recovered a soviet ICBM!!!!

they were travelling through Germany (the old eastern part) and stopped by an old warehouse, looked inside and found an ICBM (no warhead). they went back with a big wagon, collected it and brought it home and there was a picture of it stood in thier workshop.

the thread discussed the complications of explaining to the various border guards about where they got it from, who owned it etc.

i recall reviewing the thread 4-5 years ago and many of the juicy bits had been taken out (possibly legal issues) but cant find it at all now.

just asked Stu at MSD who cant recall it at all and also with his additional admin powers couldn't find any deleted stuff referring to it so maybe it was on a different forum or ive imaged the whole thing!!

any info appreciated

The guy was well into his bikes as well, regular member for a long time, user name something like Hooligan from memory.

One of those launchers sold recently at auction over here for something like Ł24k

 

I remember that correctly to Paul he was building a turbo charged bike iirc

 

I wonder if you do too much googling of it you might get a knock at the door and a trip down the road for some questions...or put on some dodgy "watch" list???

 

ive found the thread but hundreds of the posts have gone including all the good bits.

the guy was called Hooligan. it seems that since the thread was active there have been a few changes, meltdowns, IB bought the forum etc and much stuff has been lost or maybe MI5 got involved....

that part of the thread which is still present was many pages into the story and by the time these posts were made Hooligan had already recovered the rocket back to UK but had been summoned back abroad to answer theft charges.

i have to say its a tragety that the thread no longer exists as its possibly the funniest thing I've ever read on the internet. would be great if Hooligan is still around and could provide a brief overview of it
