Default Where to send my T34 for a rebuild?

My turbo has shat itself and requires a full rebuild.

Where do people recommend and what prices?

I've been quoted £300 by Turbo Rebuild in Blackpool. That includes new turbines and 360 race bearing staggered seal etc etc

a lot of people rate vince but when he was CR turbos there customers service was shocking. my friends T34 went after 800 miles after their rebuild and he didn't wanna know, use every excuse going not to rebuild for free.

I've bought from turbo dynamics in Bournemouth they seem good.

We're had some shocking problems with cr turbos. There only down the road from us and we used them for customers cars when their turbos blew, so many times we ended up doing the same job 3 times. When the guy used to walk in with "another" new turbo my boss started singing out loud the clown circus theme

Da da da da da da da da da da

I was going to buy a t3 turbo off my mate that had apparently been rebuilt but never used. He said I could have it for £150 so took it down there for them to check it out. The lad said "oh no that's not been rebuilt properly it needs another rebuild", so took his word and passed on the deal. The turbo went to another place in Bournemouth and they said "yeah we rebuilt that it's mint", it's still going in another saph 3 years on and my turbo is still on its last legs

Sent my turbo to CR with a slight oil leak, while car was in bits thought I might as well have it repaired. Sent it in with a covering letter telling them I had a brand new garret -31 Actuator to fit.

They said everything was fucked, nearly £600 later it came back with a brand new actuator attached, rang them up to see why it had a actuator with it when I told them I had a brand new one already and had I been charged for this part, to which they said I hadn't. I very much doubt they give actuators away?

Its not been a bad unit, I would never use them again though.

See thats the problem CR became too big and all about profit and other issues. But its the same world over with bigger companies.
Never had any issues and Vince is now on his own doing what he does best.

I ordered a complete chra turbo from turbo rebuild
cost about £235 when they had an offer on in November.
all you have to do is fit your compressor housing and exhaust side job done and I was very happy with the result but have not used them before so time will tell

For an extra couple hundred over the cost of a rebuild you could always go for a brand new T35.55 from turbo Technics and either exchange your T34 or sell for spares and repair.

Just another option and you will have a small upgrade and be confident the turbo is spot on.

Sorry I didn't mean to slag any one off. I'm sure vince is good its just my friends bad experience has put me right off and I saw CR as vince not a company. My friends T34 funny enough has gone again and is going back to vince to check for the 3rd time as the car is smoking/burning oil. the last two times the turbo oil seal has failed but in this build it has a different type of seal (piston seal?) so more reliable? the engine has had a full rebuild and is running nos. after the turbo is rebuilt it seems good for about 500-800 miles then evidence of turbo seal has gone. When removing the turbo and manifold no oil in the exhaust manifold engine side but always in the downpipe of the exhaust. To be fair this time the turbo has been removed and is not showing any oil in the downpipe but the car has been sitting 4 approx 2 months.
