I like the look of the magenta one. Certainly wouldn't pay that for a 24/v saph track car.

Option 1 with a yb fitted with your change doesn't sound too daft but I couldn't get over paying that much for one without the proper engine it makes the car tbh, worth 4K tops.

Have you driven a mk1 rs?

The Rs is a totally different animal all together. Drive 1 if you can before you jump in as not everyone gets on with them.

Me personally it would be the original saff

Out of the options above I'd take a look at the Focus.

A rep is all fine and well - the magenta one looks really nice. But by the time you get it to where you want (in your words throw Ł5k at it) then you might as well save a few extra quid over the winter and buy a proper saff cosworth. The rep, as nice as it may be will always have a stigma attached to it. Fine if it was only a few grand but you'll be in at over Ł10k.

That has been for sale for a long time now. To put it back to original spec your looking at atleast 6k and to a spec you will be happy 10k+.

If your heart is set on a 3 door rep then I'd hold out for a while mate. Put wanted ads everywhere u can. I'm sure one will come up one day soon. If it's got all the right bits bolted onto it then it's gojng to be no different than driving a genuine one, plus only you will know about it no one else will (apart from the previous owner and their friends of course). U may regret buying something else, always seems to be once u go and buy something else what u really wanted suddenly appears! Good luck with whatever U decide matey

Oh is it, still probably too much hassle and not overly cost effective otherwise someone else would have snapped it up if it has been for sale for yonks.

Hi folks, just joined.

I decided to buy "option 2" the smoke stone blue one. But after leaving a deposit (silly me) found out it was a total loss in November 1994 through a proper HPI check (its advertised as HPI clear). The seller is disputing this even after proof and refuses a refund saying he has documentation proving its legit. I had booked flights too.

So just a heads up to any prospective buyers.

That's bad to hear that! Hope it wasn't too much of a large deposit, if it was you can get your money back through the courts

Cheers Gfcos, I wasn't terrible, I've lost Ł200 but that's not the issue, I'll take the hit and learn my lesson. This trader has re advertised it again tonight so I don't want it happening to anyone else. if anyone needs to see the HPi report they can contact me.

surely if the car is a total loss and the seller hasn't disclosed this then by law you are entitled to your money back.
I bought my first car back in 87, the police pulled me over and asked if I'd known it was a write off. I said no. They gave me the proof, I took it back to the private seller 3 weeks after I bought it with a letter from the police. He refunded me my money.

I totally agree, as soon as I found out it was a total loss I contacted him. he wants to deny all knowledge and showed me a daft text message showing how it was clear. Because it was a classified add on e-bay I'm having some issues with reporting his add. As far as the seller is concerned a deposit is a deposit, no luck, he's out of pocket for the add?? I'm sure any honest seller would refund you without question.

I'd never pay a deposit unless it was through PayPal and I'd clearly state what the payment was for, how did you pay? There's some right sneaky people out there.

Like a right diddy I sent it through bank transfer as he'd requested. I've already tried the bank for a call back but no luck. I'm normally quite savvy when buying but you live and learn. It seems Ford RS is the new way to rip people off!!
