As above, I would suggest for piece of mind and reliability to get the sumo baffled. What sump are you using? As the early zetec sumps are a one piece aluminium construction and the later are a two piece design. An aluminium windage tray to make the majority of the 'sump' and a smaller steel pressed metal sump that bolts underneath.
I would have thought it easier to baffle the one piece item, although I can't remember if the two piece design has some baffling already in place?!

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
The two piece one is not a bad design from std
As the oil is kept away from the moving parts
Via the alloy part of the sump
The steel bit is purely a bowl which you could ran a baffle in but it won't need nothing extreme
If you use the two piece pan on a silver top then you
Will need to remove some webs to make it fit

I've just changed my sump from the one piece early sump to the later two piece sump for these reason. After a trip to knockhill and one session with the one piece sump it suffered oil surge causing the most damage to no'1 rod and crank. I got the sump baffled but never tryed it.

i wasjusrt showing that as an example - alot of this specialist bits for engine good quality ones are not advertise or readily available...plus that one looks a lot lower than original zetec.....you may get a few scrapes
best go for a dry sump kit etc since your doing it do it properly as ive learnt....:0
or perhaps a focus RS sump and sump pan? , i think these had extra oil jets,,,people using standard engines to 400 bhp so must be well built....
im not toooo clued up or at all at times just tyrin to help )))

dry sump kit?.... you must be mad! That's the value of the car hahaha!
The ST170 has under piston oil jets also. It's not the power i'm planning on running through the engine, it's the fact that it'll be on track with sticky tyres..... i'm just concerned about oil surge.
Although i appreciate your help
