Default Help!! Mondeo 09

We have a Ford mondeo 09 and the turbo has just gone due to the oil pump failing. So we had a new turbo fitted a new oil pump oil and engine clear out and new oil. The day after we had the back the timing belt slipped while my husband was on the motorway. Do you have to remove and replace the timing belt to get to the oil pump and is it OK to reuse a timing belt after 123000 miles?

I would never really use a timing belt even if it had only done 1000 miles so defiantly not to be re used ever after they miles and it should have been changed before that milage anyway.
I'm not sure how the Mondeo timing belt is set up if so can't answer that part of your question about the pump

Im not completely sure but i think the oil pumps on these are chain driven by the crankshaft at the timing belt end of the engine? Assume the belt and pulleys would need to be removed to change the pump?

The belts are due to be changed at 125k miles.

Do you think that at 123k they removed the belt to change the pump and didn't put a new one on? Surely not?

They are chain driven on these and can be removed without touching the timing belt. They are not timed and can be literally flicked off the chain and popped back on. They are on a spring type tensioner.

The belt won't have been removed and as stated belt changes are due every 125k

Thanks for the info we have now found out that we have 2 timing belts on the car one is run in oil (wet belt) and that they did take the main belt off (and admitted they put the old one back on) what we now need to know Is when replacing the oil pump and a complete oil flush and change would this effect the wet belt and should this have been changed as well? We know this needs to be timed as well but does it need retiming after replacing the oil pump? Thank you
