This is a bit of light hearted banter as most of you know I own a st170 as do a fair few on here, recently my good friend grant who is a ford collector told me that 170 owners call their cars a beaST
, so I said why on earth would they do that seeing what other fords are out there way more deserving of this meaty name so he asked on the 170 owners facebook page and got slaughtered by their admin for daring to ask that question almost to the point of harrassment, Really some people
so my question is what FORD do you think deserves the tag beaST
for me in 2016 has to be the new roush mustang 717hp or take a look through passionfords Restorations, Rebuilds & Projects section as it full of cars deserving the tag beaST will be good to see some input from you all

if your new to cars or have come from your nans micra lee and bought a 170 then yeah it will feel quicker for sure as we all have to start somewhere but to call it a beast is just plain silly, as for desert storm most would not have a clue what it was
The focus and fiesta st of that era are pretty lacking in power really, have to drive them quite hard to get anywhere. A turbo would have been nice

I know what you mean, people can call cars what they like most of the time with ford owners its swearing due to repairs but for a specific owners club to term their car as a beast is a bit odd and naive

It seems like they just wanted to make a pun from the letters ST really, despite it not being appropriate.
My only car is an ST150, and is usually the slowest straight line car when I go on track. 172s fly past on the straights although they are often track cars vs my daily.... have to make it up in the corners although this resulted in me exiting the track backwards on my last track day
Unless heavily modified I can't think of a lot of recent fords that would be "beasts", maybe the new RS but that seems fairly tame according to the reviews. Mk2 focus RS maybe?
Other than that, an RS200 or an m sport R5

A couple of friends of ours affectionately call my
Cossie similar like "how's the beast" or "I see u driving the beast" the other day. Feels slightly embarrassing if they say it in other company but there not into cars as such so to them it probably seems like a machine.

Nobody should ever call their car, or refer to their car, or any car for that matter, as "a (or the) beast". It's beyond cringeworthy and has been overused to death by all and sundry over the years.

I own a ST and my early one is style over substance, but good to see in recent years Ford has got the message and is making proper sporty STs now. This is what happens when the marketing men get their way, hopefully boffins will continue be let loose now rather than the bean counters.
They surely cant be serious!! It has to be a piss take? Imagine going to a track day or show and you get talking to someone and ask " what did you come in then"? and the reply is " the beast" I would be thinking "this guy must have something special" to then find out he is talking about his ST170!!! I would then be thinking "ST170!!! what a tosser"
