Im after a 4x4 pickup.
Around 2k. Will be used for light work and occasional off roading.
First thoughts are an L200. My mate had one 56 plate, nice to drive, awesome off road, carried a lot of weight.
Needs to be able to carry a tonne bag as im always using them for work, gravel, sand etc
Looked at a few others, ranger, mazda, navara etc
I know 2k isn't a lot but not after anything special.
Whats peoples suggestions?

Don't laugh but I know Mitsubishi l200 v6 PETROLS are far better than diesels, more mpg than diesel, cheaper to buy than diesel and don't break engines like diesels.
It's a little known secret.
I know of loads of l200 owners who have them and have changed engines at some point,1 has had 3 while the petrol versions don't give much bother at all.
I run a 96 hilux surf,it's like a land cruiser, looks newish still, earns its keep, does 20 plus mpg and if it was something like that you were after I'd recommend that in an instant, won't get ton bags in the back easily but not impossible,I fitted a while cut up rs1600i in there once.

When I was looking into it the better option seemed to be the Mitsubishi, the Nissan seemed to have the worst feedback and the Toyota's were too expensive, and at 2 grand I think you will struggle to find anything decent.

I've had the l200 and drive the navara D40 now.
L200 are not bad, never had any major problems with it only the rear leaf springs snapped but cheap to replace from milners off-road and they do a heavy duty version if your carrying heavy loads ect.
The rear seats are not that comfy for passengers but overall not a bad work horse

Not too bothered on condition etc. Don't expect anything special at that price. Wont be in it all that much. Hilux are big money, l200s seem plenty about but like the look etc of the nissan.
Rangers are apparently not very good at all struggle with weight etc.

Just be careful with the Nissans d22's some had engine problems but I'm sure some were sorted with up rated parts ect. My mates had one for a few years now and no problems and that's standard
