Abit like this post just adding light to something that is fuck all lo .Its just fuck all
ive never been passed the cenotaph. does everyone who ever passes slow to walking pace and pass with their heads bowed in respect every day? I don't expect so so I wouldn't be outraged personally so I'll expect to see the footage in the new show that they've drummed up some publicity for.
I can't see any problem with it, they meant no disrespect and as posted before they literally drove past, not like they were donutting round and round it wearing German uniforms.
I have massive respect for those that gave their days so that we can have ours and I don't get the fuss....apart from the publicity.

Maybe I am a cynic but Top Gear had the whole of London to do the stunt but chose to do it near the Cenotaph. Would it have got such Media coverage elsewhere? I doubt it , so who ever planned it knew it would be controversial and it has got everyone talking about the new Top Gear, Job Done!!

With London traffic, it wouldnt surprise me, bowing there head at disgust of the 1 hour to travel 2 miles
they wernt doing dohnuts around the cenotaph so hardly disrespectful.
the cenotaph happens to be on the south end of whitehall. White hall is why they were there. they did dohnuts on whitehall and outside houses of parliament as a fuck you to the establishment rather than anything to do with the cenotaph.

Explanation from Ken Block, he posted this on his facebook page:
Explanation FOR THE FANS: the British tabloid media decided to try to make Top Gear, host Matt LeBlanc and myself look bad this week by exaggerating a story about us doing some slides and donuts near a war memorial in London. That is unfortunate and I want my fans to know that I have complete and total respect for veterans (my Dad was a veteran) and would never do anything to deliberately disrespect them in any way whatsoever - so I was quite disappointed that some of the media was (and still is!) misinforming the public about what we were doing.
For those of you that don’t know what happened: we did our slides/donuts down the street (closest drift tire mark was 180 feet (60 meters) away) from a war monument (the Cenotaph) in central London. The press ran long-lens photos that compress the distance and makes it look like we are much closer - and then they said that we “disrespected” the memorial. I drove past the memorial several times (it’s in the middle of a two lane road, London traffic goes past it 24 hours a day, every day of the year), but I did not do anything on or around it. We were respectful, and the production crew instructed me to be the appropriate distance away - which I adhered to.
This whole tabloid negativity came as a complete surprise to me as BBC are the ones who invited me over, worked for months applying for all of the proper permits to do the driving/filming, got it all approved by the proper councils of government as well, and directed my actions. We did nothing wrong, yet the British tabloids have made something out of nothing.
Unfortunately, sensationalized headlines garner attention in this day and age. I was in London to work with Top Gear to make awesome automotive television programming and promote the country and city - and we continued to do that and make an awesome piece, despite the paparazzi and false reporting.
Anyway… the entire shoot went amazing, Matt LeBlanc and I had a great time making an amazing/funny piece and it will be broadcast in a few months. And, it will not feature the war memorial because it never was intended to be featured in the first place!
id be asking questions about those that ok'd this from the other sides as those who are claiming most offence seem to be the ones that agreed to it going ahead on their grounds apparently not knowing what was meant to be happening.
what a appeasement monkey chris evans seems to be since hes now apparently full of remorse and horror . grow some balls ginger and tell those that are complaining to fuck right off!
Can somebody please confirm what the laws are regarding speed on closed roads?
I could be wrong but I was under the impression that stage tarmac rallying in the England could not realistically take place not because of road closure, but the speed on the roads when closed.
Surely that video above shows a quicker speed than 20mph which goes against everything I have written above?

The road can be closed, but the road traffic act still applies, so speed limits still apply, although they are at the beginning of getting this changed so that the road traffic act doesn't apply, its in the early stages yet, reckon it'll be about 5 years or so before it happens as it has to go through an act of parliament. There are a couple of exceptions though where they managed to go through parliament and have had closed road stage events, such as the Jim Clark rally, an the tour of mull (the fact they aren't on mainland Britain helped them, and the fact the rally gives a huge boost to the economy of the island). Only reason I know this is I am a member of a motor club which was looking at organising a rally like this one day.
Although thinking about it a little more, I think its different for filming compared with motorsport. As I know big parts of fast and furious 6 were filmed on closed roads in Glasgow and various other films/TV programmes film on closed roads all the time with blatantly obvious speeding cars, so maybe its different rules for them??
Just goes to show everything seems to be controlled by the media. There more powerful than anything. Like when they report someone that's been arrested for a horrific crime and drag there whole family through the shit and then it turns out that person was innocent but it ruins lives, that person will be looked at like a criminal for the rest of there lives but innocent. I don't think they should be able to release suspects names or any details untill they've been found guilty in a court of law. Look at that landlord that got dragged through hell when that lady tenant of his got murdered. He was in all the papers labelled a "weirdo" and ruined his life. They even made a programme about it. There's freedom of speech and then there's scaremongering and story telling to make a few quid selling papers.

Very well said! The media in this country are a total joke really. But I wont bother ranting here.
I read the statement from KB over this and he stated they were using camera tricks to make them look close to the cenotaph etc but the councils and police all knew they were filming 50metres etc away as they had permission
