I've got a low mileage 2012 e91 320d that I'm considering getting mapped, what are people's experiences, does it make much of a change?

Default remap

if anything use a decent tuning box,you can reverse it immediately if required
some of the 320 have poor engines and seem to be a little heavier on turbo wear along with clutches etc-personally i would leave it std

Tuning boxes are horrid devices, would you run your old car on choke the whole time?

Not same car I know but I've got a TDi tuning box on my A4 estate, mine is the 130PD and claims to up power to around 160bhp

Its been on for well over a year now with no problems at all. Car runs perfectly and fuel economy has increased a bit, noticeable more power/torque and just seems better all round.

its my first time buying a tuning box and I was sceptical, but its proved to be a good buy for me.

A local tuner said to me a tuning box puts more stress on the injectors and pump. A remap is the proper way apparently.

I had evolution chips/ MSD remap my old E90 320d and it is still the biggest Ł for Ł gain I've had from any car .The 320 engine really comes alive with a map, I've had a few 330D's mapped by other companies and gains were not nearly as good.

Remap in my opinion, I've used msd for my 330d, grin factor 10!
Used awesome gti for my bora and bw chiptune for my 330ci previously.
No real reason not to use a tuning box but seems an extra step in processing data that a remap just does.

That said... not much remaps like the x35D twin turbo models. They really are epic value for money when it comes to power per Ł on a remap.

put a box on my old 177bhp 520d and did over 40k and no problems. they claim over 200bhp from the box and it certainly felt more responsive and definitely smoother.
