I've a 180 quid one on my bike c-tec I think and a cheap 15 quid halfords one I had on my Sierra. No difference what so ever in what they do lol the cheap halfords one senses 12 volts and maintains as well

it's going to be used on at least 5 different motors, including a ferrari and a porche as well as 2 nearly new mercs with the stopping and the starting stuff plus a beemer so it's got to cover ALL the bases
the one he's been recommended is the c-teck one that's Ł324, is it really worth that much money?

The stop start cars have a different battery, which is the agm one with glass and stuff in it so it's not a "normal" battery and you have to disconnect it from the car to charge it
What he's after is a trickle charger to keep it topped up when it's not been used for a month

If there is a healthsensor at the negative batterypost, you have to tell the computer
of the car that you put a new battery in it every time you charge the battery, otherwise
the battery won't last long. The battery is kept at an partially charged state so the car can put its "brake-energy" into it (the alternator will charge the battery coasting off throttle, "free energy"). If you do not tell the ECU there is a new battery in it,
it will be treated as a half charged battery and it will not live long.

c-tek gets my vote, theyre good and do agm, stop / start battery makes no difference its the agm bit.
agm batteries are used in most stop start cars, vag group, porsche, merc, etc
ring do an automatic charger but ive got one and it doesnt like to go into the float stage. so if i were spending any money id buy c-tek.

I've been using a ring maintainer/charger for a few years now and would buy the same again if I needed another one. I've got a longer lead on mine and have it going through the window and plugged into the cigarette lighter socket.
