from memory the fuel sender wire is blue/black and if yours is a non injection then it would be the only wire under the back seat

Possibly worth trying earthing it to the body and see if the gauge moves?

Not 100% sure, but is it for the fuel computer? Not sure if only mk4s had them though

As said, blue/black is the sender wire (assuming it's from 80-86), is this what you have?

But in any case, it does sound like this should be connected to the sender.

Hi all yer your all right

It's for the fuel sender

It's of and not wired up because iv got a rs turbo engine in my 1.3 mk3 escort 1984

There's 3 wires coming from the sender

How do I wire it up now

Where do I wire that wire what goes through the rear seats etc

Iv plugged the fuel sender in to the new rs wiring but fuel gauge don't work obviously as got to wire that wire in some how

Got to wire it in to the rs loom then to the clocks some how

Think my dash loom is standard 1.3 escort loom so the clocks can't plug in to the new loom

Any one know

Thanks all

Here's that wire on the rear seats

In essence, that wire is the ground for the gauge, judging by how it's been left, it probably doesn't connect to the gauge, as you suspect.

If so you would have to connect it to it, if you ground it, does the gauge move?

If I put that wire on the gauge it will go from empty to full in 2 mins will read full all the time

The fuel sender plug was never connect to the body plug was just left unplugged

When I connect it gauge don't do nothing

the blue black wire runs from the sender to the gauge, one of the other wires from the sender can be earthed to the body, then the fuel gauge should work, thats how i wired mine up and it works fine

Sounds good but there's 3 wires coming from the sender

If you look at the pics I don't have a blue wire

I'm trying to make a rs turbo fuel sender to work on a standard 1.3 dash and fuel gauge

But got 4 wires in all 3 from the sender and 1 under the seat....

Then I would verify the sender is working ok.

Like I say, the next thing to look at is the sender.
