Red face slight petrol leak on the fiesta rs turbo.

got a slight leak on the fuel filter here on the fiesta rs turbo, new washers have been used, ive tightened it up a bit but it still gets a bit moist with petrol! any solutions? might try the old copper washers to see if it helps! hate stuff like this, changed gearboxes, engines etc.......... but its the niggly things that bug me!

Think they were 15mm but I'd have to check in my eBay history for u later. I had a day booked off work to work on my car, decided to change the fuel filter and spent the entire day stuck on the ramp with the bastard leaking, tried every washer known to man and then bought these dowty washers and been fine since

The petrol will deteriorate the rubber seal in the dowty washer pretty quickly. The trick is to use new copper washers and just nip them up, do not crush them. Once they are flattened they are useless!

My mates had them on his saph for years, mines been on there for a year and no leaks, my mates rst has them on it for years with no problems and it's been fine. There designed for the use, u can get dowty washers with different rubber in, u need the ones that are used as sump plug washers from the peugeots there oil and fuel resistant. In fact the ones on my mates saph have been on there at least 5 years to my knowledge as I've changed the filter everytime I've serviced it.
