Default 2ltr blactop engine conversion... ANYONE in the know!!!

Done many conversions over the years in all fords now I have a mk5 fiesta zetec S (2000) daily work horse and have now decided as engine has done nearly 180,000 to upgrade to a 2ltr blacktop what i would like to know is;
1. Whats best gearbox to use (been told ka 1.3)?
2. I have an st170 manifold somewhere to go on what do i do about rest of system?
3.WIRING been told use rs1800 loom/ecu and efi inlet and that i cnt use the blacktop loom/ecu as its too hard??? Is this true
4. I already have an engine mount that will work!
5. I have a (escort) 1.8 silvertop sump and flywheel/clutch!

Any help advise would be greatly appreciated........ The plan to try get it all done in a weekend so i can use for work on the monday, wont be doing for few weeks/months

I have done loads of transplants with a zetec but most have been rwd.

st170 Manifold, is that inlet or exhaust ?
Exhaust is good on a Zetec but inlet is a bodge.

My party trick is running them for fek all with the standard ecu. I find them easy but time consuming. Other people just think wiring is witch craft.

So I can not help with the Fiesta. but I can give you pointers with the electrics.
Many people will tell you you are wasting your time and by going Ms, Omex, Dta ect you will half the wiring and get more power.

So it comes down to what you want from the swap. A full race car or a bit more go.

I've been paying around Ł10~15 for an ecu with the exception of the RS. It needs no mapping and will just pass an mot or even an Iva as long as all the bits needed are used. Most after market ecu's start at Ł500+ and you will be into it a shed load more by the time its mapped.

Don't waist your money on pre pats ecu's. Latter pats with Obd2 is better.

last project was a rwd st170 with oem electrics.

Current project is a standard 2.0 black top with cheap Rs parts that will stay fwd with the st170 box.

I've done the ecu pin outs and basic pats info for most Zetec's from pre pats to silver and black top as well as the St170 and the Zetec SE.

This is for the silver / black top.

This is the Zetec SE

http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/view...php?tid=199233

This is the St170

http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/view...php?tid=190440

I will do the Rs when finished.

My engines a 1.6 16v SE.
I know doing rwd translpants with these engines is piece of piss lol yep st170 exhaust manifold. I wanna use the 2ltr full capacity otherwise not worth doing i have turbo'd many of these engines and got them running but that was in early cars and later cars!

Mine will be a cheap as chips 2.0 black top with a Scooby td04 and Rs electrics, a stage one remap and an aimed 250bhp.

Then see how long it takes to let go.

How much that owe u? Thing is these in any form are easy to fit into old skool basic cars/kit cars but fitting into newer cars 2000 up is more difficult

Why ? Fords up to 2004 are easy enough I don't have the cash to try newer stuff.

Its going in a dead st170 for a track day.

I am thinking with a stage 1 remap I should be around 250bhp @ 14 psi.

The Td04 is only good for 270bhp any way

Engine was Ł50

looked at this a while back myself, but opted for the common as muck puma conversion.

will be building a 200-300bhp zetec turbo some day to go in a mk5 zs.... i found some useful info on fiesta-turbo + fiesta-si forum
says you can use the focus 2.0 ecu in place of the 1.6 one just like the mk3 si boys can swap for a 2.0 mondeo ecu.
not sure about wiring, would assume the 2.0 engine loom
use a focus 1.8 box aswell, puma/zs driveshafts fit the 1.8 box

obviously would also need a custom upper engine mount, some people use focus ones but they dont look too good to me, personally id get some cardboard and make a template then get some metal and weld it all up in the form of a new mount lol..

someone on the zsoc forum has built a st170 powered mk5 zs
and on facebook someone called Todd, has built a nice zetec turbo'd one.

quite a few people are doing this conversion now, kinda wish id stuck with it and not done the puma swap tbh. it'd probably be in and running by now!

the 1.8 should bolt up to the 2.0, it fits the standard zs gearbox mount, not 100% on the torque mount near manifold...
ka 1.3 bellhousing is what people mean i think, complexed things like taking a box apart is one of the reasons i just did the puma swap lol.
also ithink the 2.0 is cable not hydraulic, but im sure there was a guide on one of the forums, probably even PF, on how to change cable clutch to hydraulic, it looked quite simple tbh

Focus's are hydraulic clutch i have had loads of them from 1.6 to 2.0 all were hydraulic

I've got a blacktop turbo in my mk4 fiesta. I made custom mounting points to accept the focus mount.

I started with the ka ib5 box but the torque was ruining the input shaft bearings every 300 miles. So I now run a focus rs gearbox with custom mounts and shafts. If you're not running a turbo your flywheel clytch gearbox setup will be fine.

Best to run on aftermarket management if you want it to be tuneable.

I run a silvertop inlet as I had one, meant I could use the better looking silvertop cam cover too

The video is from mapping so wasn't full power runs, he comes on off throttle at different points but you get the idea.
