Default Any difference in cvh clutch?,1.4-1.6

Just swapped over an engine in my brothers orion. The engine came from a mk1 Orion which was an automatic. So we took the flywheel and clutch from the 1.4 and put it on the 1.6. Now that it's all assembled when you accelerate the revs just go high the car doesn't accelerate with the revs.

Mechanic at ford said the clutch is probably gone but it was fine on the 1.4? He said perhaps they aren't interchangeable? Can anyone confirm this?

Just before we spend on new clutch etc, could grease or oil on the clutch cause this issue?
Thanks in advance

The clutches are different sizes between the mk1 and mk2 Onion. 180mm to 220mm iirc but it's been donkeys since I done one

Would the smaller clutch cause it to slip though?
