buying a car with no log book...?
private seller, cheap car (£1500) but they say the log book was lost, ive no idea why they couldn't apply for a new v5 before selling as im sure that would have gave them a better selling price but whats the best way around this to avoid getting stung or is it best to just avoid?

I've bought a car before with no logbook, as already said, I just did a hpi check and got the seller to write me a receipt then I just applied for the logbook which I got no problems. It was no bother at all really although theres always that thought at the back of your mind that theres something off about it. Once the logbook came through I never gave it a 2nd thought.
