Default Barn find

Pulled this from a garage today where it had been stood for 19 years-Since it was 5 years old!

The people that owned the land it was on had tried since last October to locate an owner but no information on the car could be found.

Obviously there was nothing with it only the last tax disc dated 1996!!

The car is showing just over 51k and it looks to be genuine as it's surprisingly clean, no rust anywhere, interior is nice & still smells like a Ford!!

Found these behind the grill which was interesting.....

Ace find mate, love hearing things like this!

Any idea why it was parked up at such a young age?! What's your plans with it?

Think it may have been a police/CID car as I found sirens too!

Going to get a key cut for it & hopefully get it running.

No idea mate.

A Hpi check says no police or DVLA records so we had noting to go on at all.

Applying for a V5 should spark some interest if the Police "Lost" it all those years ago.

It's been parked up since it was 5-6 years old so doubt it would have still belonged to the police at the time it was parked up.

At the end of the day I've done nothing wrong so when/if the log book comes back in my name & I get a knock at the door at least I'll know the story behind it

I reckon the hack saw blades were used to cut up a female victim? Maybe that's why the car was in hiding. Lol

I wonder if the Police keep any records of undercover cars that they used ? It will be interesting to find out its past history.
It is in very good condition, should run ok with such a low mileage.

Interesting car! Wonder if the police connection relates to the reason why it's been laid up!

I might have a stolen police car

Could be a fake police car that's been used in a bank robbery!!

Although I'd love there to be a really good story behind this I don't think there is as surely the HPI would have some info on it, unless it's not showing as it's been off the road for so long.

Who knows.

Film/TV prop car? Purchased for a production and then, once filming over, no-one wants anything to do with it so it's parked away and forgotten??

Surely DVLA must have records of who paid for the tax back in '96.................

I'm going to call them later & see if I can get any info.

The car was taxed in the same area it was found so likely hood is that someone has parked it up & moved/passed away etc.

That makes sense, though 51,000 miles seems like quite a lot for that kind of use

170mph speedo ? Really?

Do they actually get close to that speed then ?. always thought granadas were slow and heavy.

140MPH was the book top speed in these. Plenty of people claim more on the clocks, but as they're probably 10% over-reading that sounds about right.

This shape of Granada was slippery like the Sierra, so had very good aerodynamic properties.

It's a Cosworth 24v. A great engine with around 200bhp.

Weight has no effect on top speed.

my cousin purchased an ex-cop car (granada scorpio 2.9ltr) and the dash was modified to take a monitor and it had extra wires everywhere. Had holes in the roof too and sometimes the lights would go a bit mental and start flashing randomly...

I've not tried starting it yet mate so could be knackered, hence why it's been left.

Is it a cam belt or a chain? Would probably be worth putting a belt on it before firing it up if it is one!
