General Car Related Discussion. To discuss anything that is related to cars and automotive technology that doesnt naturally fit into another forum catagory.
This was mine I sold a few years ago I couldn't move it took ages to sell. I only sold it because I bought a house and at the time me and my pals felt out of love with cars. Makes me feel sick thinking about, spoke to the bloke who nows owns it and he's been offered 25k over the phone.
I viewed a 3dr about 6-7 years ago, made an offer that was excepted at 4k, was really nice condition but when I did a hpi it was cat d, turned out it was owned by a lad who was involved with a few other people I new and had a " smash for cash rear end damage done",
Put me off so I didn't buy,
Wish I had now even with the cat d
Prices for cosworths in general are nonsense at the moment, especially when so many people seem to be referencing eBay as some kind of market indicator. I've been looking for an escort cossie for a while, eBay has been full of the same 18-20k cars (and other even more daft ones) for months that don't sell, and there seems to be very little advertised elsewhere
Prices will only go up, no one can dispute that, but there's a lot of opportunists out there.

That's the thing tho, if eBay is the only referance its because theres none for sale else where, they are getting thin in the ground now.

i dont go with the ebay pricing either roger ,but its the largest market place now and i suppose the odd big sale distorts the market
Supply and demand comes to mind, there is hardly any for sale so really it is a sellers market to pick the price, whether it sells or not is a different story! The classic car market is like the painting market! Collect-able and invest-able. You won't lose money and in some cases money better in the bank!

There's a nice escos local to me. The garage wants 28k for it lol.
All of you are correct, prices are madness at times.
If only we had bought loads and stored them for now, oh well.
The only problem is collectors buy the cars and prices rise, forcing enthusiasts to lose out as they cannot afford them anymore
I wonder if there will be a similar discussion in several years about saphs? When I was first looking for one about 5 years ago they were about half of what they are now...
I may be the only one but I do hope the cosworth market crashes. I think too many are in it just for the money rather than the actual car. Glad I have my saph now before they go astronomical, my only concern is parts prices as I like to use my cars as they where intended and break them in the mean time lol.
The saff is the unloved cossie which get broken for parts and mainly engines.
But this will make them a rare beast esp the 2wd.
Just look at prices for lancia integrales and the e30 M3. Lancias being a basic pile of rusty poo but now rare in decent condition and trust me when i say the build quality on them is horrific. Makes a saff look like a bentley....
And they can change hands for upto 70k.
Bought this 8 years ago for £5500 , mint , 62,000 miles stage 3 , not a spec of rust and is solid as a rock , is a cat D but no idea why never managed to find out the history of why it's a cat D but it's never had any welding anywhere , fuk knows what it's worth now but doesn't matter as I'll never sell it , my wee boy wouldn't forgive me
