Default Escort Cosworth - Can anyone help with a petrol smell????

Hi All

My Escort Cosworth has a petrol smell appearing to come from the rear drivers side wheel arch...This is obviously near the filler cap but I have had it up on ramps and can see no sign of any leaks.....It smells all the time, nothing to do with filling it up. Are there any breathers in that area??
Just doesn't seem right to me, anybody else had the same experience??

Thks for all the help...

Cheers Malc

there is a little vacum thing behind the filler pipe things... also the cap vents to atmos so wouldnt worry about it... probably just noticing it more as its getting warmer thats all

Ok thks guys...The garage is fairly airtight with a dehumdifier running so a small vent to atmos is probably what I can smell ....cheers...

Althought that doesn't solve why it was appearing to boost cut in 1st today when under full load didn't even know it had overboost protection on a stage 3 chip (mountune)????

Malc, how much fuel have you got in it??? As if its anywhere less than 1/4 then you may have a pick up issue!! mine used to do it when booting from standstill, or beaning around a corner.

My S2 stank so bad of fuel a few weeks ago, i was convinced it was leaking, but checked it out several times underneath and no leaks anywhere
Still don't know what it was, but hasn't done it since
