Default Odd problem since service

Did a quick service on my R reg 1.6 escort Zetec the other day (plugs, oil, oil and air filter) and now when I start it the revs rise to about 1.5-2k for a minute or so before settling back to normal. It also stinks of running rich, what could it be????

What plugs did you use? I've found zetecs can be fussy buggers if you use cheaper aftermarket ones. I would always stick with gen ford ignition components.
