indicators etc are playing up.*problem solved*
rite. on a 90 spec xr3i the indicators have stopped working. hazard lights still work tho. do they have seperate relays? i have changed the indicator stalk and its just the same. what else do you reccommend looking at??????
*update*update*update*update*
when you start the car and you go to turn it off again the engine turns off but dash lights etc stay on.
when you flash main beam it blows no 16 fuse and the drivers side headlight stays on permanently whether ignition on or off......
indicators still dont work
fuse 13 is for indicators and reversing lights. the fuse has been removed and the reverse lights still work.
help me please.....................

Check the fuseboard where the relay for the circuit fixes and clean the terminals up. May be worth using a small screwdriver to bend the contacts slightly to improve the connection. You may well find this cures the problem

As far as I remember the relay you need to check is next to the power window one in the fuse box. If there was a problem with the fuse box or feed then they would have stopped too
Just clean them all up and see how it goes

it is 1 of the small yellow relays. the 1 nearest the right. as it clicks as normal when you run a live wire into the left side of indicator fuse holder.
any more ideas guy's??????

right this will take some explaining!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if i run a wire from the battery to the fuse holder in the fusebox for the indicators they work no probs,
but if you put the lights onto mainbeam the wires try to melt!
also with this wire connected i have power at the blower but it still doesnt work!!!!
i have the clocks etc removed an unplugged from the instrument cluster and the drivers side mainbeam stays on until you connect the instrument cluster back up doesnt go off with ignition either. also found the remains of an old immobiliser loom under dash so removed it just incase. still the same tho.
wired to the fuckin moon it is.

Yep, the relay could be causing the short circuit. But you say it works ok if you power up the fuse .... so ......
Got to check back in the loom from before the fusebox to look for a short somewhere. Has it blown the fuse your powering up manually ?

Sounds to me like you need to start from scratch...
Look at which circuits are not working/faulty, then look at these circuits on a wiring diagram and see if they have anything in common (feeds, earths, fuses, splices in the loom etc etc).
Make sure all fuses are ok and all wires are connected to the battery (the small ones as well).
With the help of the wiring diagram and a testlight go through the circuits starting from the battery, the fuse, the component, the earth and all the wiring in between.
If you just start swaping relays about etc you may cause more harm.

the fuse i am powering manually is fine...
have started stripping the black tape off of the loom at the indicator stalk and following it back to the fusebox. lost a bit of time today as spent most of the afternoon at casualty as the girlfriend came off her horse and wrecked her back and neck muscles. never mind. the car was goin for an mot at half 10 tomorrow so looks like itl be getting cancelled!!!!!
