ideally, you want something with weight, i pulled a car on a trailer
with a toyota pickup and was getting sway from the trailer loads,
shit me up, pulled same trailer with a heavier car with a discovery and
was a lot smoother, transit/sprinter are ideal, small cars are no good IMO

You will over load any car if you tow a car on a trailer. You need a van or a Land Rover/Range Rover effort.
New Transit/Sprinter will be good. Sprinters have up to 156bhp, the Transits have up to 135bhp but more torque than the Sprinter.
You need to know the vehicles kerb weight and train weight to work out a suitable vehicle. Subtract the kerb weight from the train weight and that will give you the towing capacity....
Kerb weight is what the vehicle weighs unladen. Train weight is what the combined tow vehicle and trailer must not weigh more than....
