Are 1.8 focus gearbox's the same as a 2.0 focus? Iv got all the parts to do a mtx75 conversion other then the box and cables and need to know if a 1.8 box would fit?

Yes 1.8 and 2ltr boxes are same its the gearing thats different

Are the 1.8 gear ratio any good for a zt or is it worth going for a 2.0 box?

No they aren't 1.8's have the IB5 gearbox and the 2.0 and 1.8 diesels have the MTX75

Focus 1.8 is fitted with IB5 gearbox.

Focus 2.0 is fitted with MTX-75 gearbox.

NOT the same gearbox and not a direct swap without quite a few other bits.

All fit but them gear ratios mean absolutely nothing to me lol! So what gearbox is bet suited for a 350bhp zt mainly for road use? Is there a massive difference to how each box would make the car drive? Im tryin to stay away from the frs because of the cost and mainly the speedo issue

been using standard box with standard clutch no problems however LSD or somesort of diff is fitted - i presume it makes a difference?

I've got a diesel MTX75 you can have for free if you come and get it.

It'd make for a very high top speed with 350hp and high petrol revs pushing it!
