Hello,
I've been a long time fan of the Ford ST170 and yesterday I test drove one. It is a 2004 plate with 220,000km on the clock. The vehicle had been idling for about 5-10 minutes whilst I looked around I then took if for a 15 minute test drive, low speed (60-80kph). The dash indicated the vehicle was up to temperature 70-90 degreesC , but when giving it some beans in 2nd gear between 5000-6000rpm the engine limited the torque. The throttle was very jerky and it selt as though no fuel was geting to the engine. I've read the following from www.fordst170.co.uk:
"Not Getting The Torque From Cold
You may notice that you are not getting the torque when you rev the car hard when the engine is cold - this is because it has a built in limiter until the engine is warm to prevent any damage to the engine. So go easy with the pedal until the temperature is right."
This would align with what I experienced, but I though the engine was up to temperature.
Has anyone else experienced this?
or can someone tell me how long it usually takes for the engine to warm up before limiting torque?
Has anyone had an issue with torque been limited regardless of the engine temperature?
Thanks for any help

I can remember giving my car so right foot when it was cold, and I had a yellow dash light come on. But that was to warn me about trying to rev it hard when it wasn't warm. But it didn't do anything you mention, it sounds wrong and I would leave it be.
