Default break or sell cosworth?

How well do the bits sell?is it more hassle than it's worth?
Easier to sell whole? Or just loads of time wasters?
Trying to decide whether to break or sell, seems hassle either way

A lot of hassle, mess, work/time, advertising then time wasters although some stuff will sell easy you'll have plenty hanging around.
Enough scum breaking good cars around anyway, don't join them

Worth more in bits but will take ages and you'll have crap lying around everywhere for years. Only things that sell quick are engine and running gear, recaro interior and 4x4 bonnets and bumpers etc

People are scum for breaking cars? Behave. They own it they can do what they like

If it's your avg stage 3 I'd sell it. Anything more than that, and it's worth considering breaking it

Why not?? If its financially visable for them to do it, then i dont see the harm. The same way some see if visable to restore utter shite too!!

Iam sure if they paid what a car was actually worth they could happily enjoy it,but the harsh truth of the matter is matey people are tight and want everything for nothing, hence breaking is better to get your hard earned cash back,Iam sure you would sell your car for half what you could break it for

If it makes sense financially to break a car, then fuck what the purists say.

It is a ball ache though, a lot of messers around and I'd imagine even more in the Cosworth world.

it is absolutely not more hassle than its worth mate

saph cos cost Ł9k broke for Ł11.5k
r32 gtr cost Ł10k broke for Ł13k
r33 gtr cost Ł17k broke for Ł22k
r32 gtr cost Ł5k broke for Ł11k

and all of those cars I bought, drove around myself and enjoyed them and repair costs during my ownership are in those cost prices aswell.

that's Ł16.5k profit from those 4 cars that were bought and used then broken at sale time not just bought to break, id of made a lot more profit if id broke them as soon as I bought them

Would continually breaking not increase the value of other good ones that are still left?

It all depends on what condition your car is in really before u decide to break or sell. Decent cars are now selling for strong money which doesn't really make it worth the hastle of breaking, on the other hand if it's come to the end of the road, rusty, worn mechanicals etc then there's more money in it for u to break.
Way too many good cars are broke tho these days.

if you want the return though they have to be broken, I was getting offered Ł7k for my saph made Ł11.5k, my r33 I was getting offered Ł12k ! lol, I made Ł22k ffs !

all my weekend cars are always highly modded though so parts are always worth mega money.

all my shells have been bought and are still on the road, my saph is on here for sale now, and all 3 of my old gtrs are all either on the road or being built up again none have been scrapped.

as for being "scum" for breaking a car what a fucking stupid thing to say !

I think there is far to many saffs getting broke imo. Yeh ok there is a good supply of parts but I like to think a few of us are doing a good job of keep these old girls on the roads.

And I'd like to think any decent shell of any good car is still somewhere waiting or getting restored.

Another trouble is that 'how many left' site I think the numbers are better than it suggests, probably for all cars not just ones I have looked at.

You get those write ups on ebay saying 'blah blah blah ses one of six left...'

I personally need a few parts yet so.......

I made very very good money out of breaking my old sapph (Around 20k) although it was very well known on this forum and had desirable parts on it, but I did have my fair share of people who wanted something for nothing along the way, just depends if you can be arsed to deal with them really, I would think the same would apply to selling complete though unfortunately

Question is how much do you value your time, then you'll know if it's worth breaking or not

If you've got space and a workshop etc and your set up for a bit of home mechanics then it probably is worth it, if you're gonna break it on the drive, have bits in the house and have a wife and kids demanding your time then bollox to that

You have certainly got everyone having their say on this one ! What you have not said, is there a problem with your car that is too hard or expensive to fix?
If not and the car is in good condition I would say sell it complete. If you have access to a large workshop or garage and the car is only now fit to break go for it. It is not easy and it will take you a long time to get rid of everything. Depends on how practical and hands on you are and how much time you have.
If you want the easiest route as I said sell complete. Your call on this one.Good luck whichever way you go.
Cheers Richard from Southampton.
