Snapped dipstick........HELP!!!
Whip sump plug out to drain oil and if you have one of those magnetic telescope things ..... mechanics best friend pmsl, try that way you might be lucky but assume you will have to bend it to make it able to search along bottom of the pan.
Wel i do as i never ever found the end of the one on my saph cossie LOL, nothing happened me so lucky bugger probably.
I remember pulling dipstick out to check oil as you do and thinking WTF where ma end gone

The end has broken off just at the full mark, pulled the tube out to check if it was in there but nope, will be at the bottom of pan for sure
I've read a few post of people leaving them in, in fact one guy with a staph cos found 3 in there when he dropped his pan, lol.
I was hoping someone has had this happen to them and they found a way of getting it out.

I wouldnt be running the car until its removed (guess you aren't anyway), I would say dropping the pan is probably the easiest way of sorting it as im not sure the magnetic telescopic thing will be much good as its a sump plug its not a lot to work with and would take just as little time to whip the pan off. However that will mean dealing with the dreaded Sump Gasket lol
if you cant get it with the little telescopic magnet jobbie, might be worth getting a big magnet, speaker or something for instance, and running it around the bottom of the sump to try and pick it up, and work it towards the plug hole.
Cars not being driven no, I'm waiting on a load of roose hoses so gonna wait til they come and have a full day on the car. I'll defo be giving the magnet thing a go for sure.
I'll post up once I've dropped the oil and see how it goes
