Default water swirl pots on CVH turbo

I was always under the impression that the standard item on the thermostat housing was quite up to the job at hand but a couple of people reckon there is a benefit to the bling items.

Thoughts and opinions welcome

Old thread resurrection - I've just ordered a full set of roose hoses for my fiesta rs turbo, and the car is currently fitted with a water swirl pot. Now when I fit the new coolant hoses I'm thinking of not re fitting this as I think it looks a bit messy when the hoses are cut to fit them. Will it be fine to use the standard thermostat jobbie?
