Any ideas.....

Have you got an oil pressure gauge? If so what's it reading? With tick over and with throttle?

No I haven't. Just took it out now and it hasn't come on?

Just wondering if its because its been stood and had work done to it. The oil pump was cleaned as the pipe was blocked and oil has been changed as well

I would put my money on either a blocked strainer or duff sensor.

Blocked pick up pipe due to the amount of times you've had the sump on/off recently. Bet sealant has blocked it. Everytime this goes to your mechanic it seems to come back with twice as many issues

Its been back to the lad who originally did the work, never had problems when its been to him.

The other lad who did some work on it was getting nowhere as the piston rings had gone so not really his fault. It runs fine just came on for a minute or 2 last night hasn't done it since

I agree! These engines need an oil pressure gauge so you can keep an eye on it's health.

I'm going to change the oil pressure switch first to see if that changes anything.

I've spoke to the lad who did the rings and he said he's cleaned the oil pick up so he said try the switch if its not fixed it then take it back

Ive changed the oil pressure switch and it no different!

It only comes on once up to temp and only on idle, soon as throttle is pressed it goes out

Have you got the correct oil in there?

The oil might be thinning out when up to temp.

Sounds like the symptoms or worn big eng/main bearings but I assume you changed those? I have heard of people fitting non grooved main shells to an old engine which ran grooved iirc which caused issues as the crank had a ring type mark in the centre of the journal, either that or the oil pump is worn out.

as ive said stop messageing on here, stop driving it and get a gauge on it, it really is that simple !

I don't mean to sound funny but its madness, if the pressure is dropping so low to bring the light on your new piston rings will be shot in no time !

if the pressure comes straight upto 40 psi+ once on the throttle then it will be fine, but you may only be holding 15 - 20 psi flat out which will kill it in no time.

Selling it on eBay seems simpler .

there is always that option lmao

having just had the engine rebuilt im guessing hes spent abit of money and plans on keeping it so seems madness not to stop driving it and check what the actual pressure is.

This is fixed now oil was too thin when getting up to temp hence why it's not in the add on eBay, thanks for all the smart remarks.
