I've got an 04 Passat tdi daily smoker. Problem I have is I can't open the N/S front door. The solenoid has stuck and the anti-theft set up won't allow it to be opened.
Any ideas before I have to cut the door card to get inside?

Pity its not a rear , take the shit guard out and dril the captive heads of the bolts takes 20 mins .... front thou if you have VAGCOM you can trigger the door to open that's if the locking mech has not fallen to bits ...

What was the outcome?
I had this (on a front mk4 golf door) and read that if you simultaneously thump the door around the lock on the outside while someone presses the unlock button on the drivers door card you might just get lucky, as 9/10 it is a dry joint on the locking mechanism circuit board.
I tried this and got in on the first whack and a week later I'd stripped the lock mech and re-soldered everything (couldn't find any signs of damaged joints) and when I put it all back I was very grateful to find i'd cured the problem! Happy days![Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
