Hello im looking for some advice on doing an engine conversion on my fiesta mk6 zetec s. I have a focus st170 and was hoping to put this engine in the fiesta.

I have done two engine conversions before but these were straight foward and i believe this one may be a little more complicated. The main things i would like to know if anyone out there has the knowledge to save me some time.

- Will i need to make custom engine mounts or just modify my current mounts on the fiesta to get this zetec to fit. The current engine in the fiesta is a zetec SE so being a zetec i wouldnt have thought the mounts wouldnt be much different?

- The st170 is a 6 speed box but i have heard from a friend the ib5 box may fit does anyone know if the bell housing is atall similar? If not what other box would fit im not too bothered about the gear ratio as the engine will provide enough power for the now

Somewhere out there must have put a mk1 focus engine in a fiesta and be able to provide your knowledge =)

why when you can buy a st fiesta with a lighter engine that can be made to do 170bhp very easy

engine conversion cost more than you think, its the little bits that all add up that you dont realise

The St170 actually isn't a Zetec. My brother did a conversion using the ST 170 engine into a mk6 Escort and it was a complete sod. IB5 box does bolt straight to it though.

to save the hassle id go for the lighter and directly fitable duratec lump. All the bits you need are easily available and the sky is the limit when it comes to tuning too. Duratecs are turning out to be a good little engine and i think they will mature into one of the best ford engines for us modifiers to play with.
