Default Rattling noise over bumps

Hello guys,

I wish you guys can help me figure out the problem I'm currently experiencing with my ford fiesta mk6.

When I drive over a bump/uneven pavement I hear a sharp rattle coming from the driver side. However, when I brake slightly over the bump/ uneven pavement the noise does not occur, then minute I realise the brake the noise comes back to haunt me.

I took it to the mechanics and they couldn't figure out the noise until it gets worse, they "claim" to have checked my brake caliper pins, bushes, drop links etc and they all seem to be fine.

And I would like to know it if is safe to drive with this noise or am I over reacting.

I need your help, have you had this problem before? Or know anyone that has? Please tell me as I'm going bald because of this noise. Lol

most likely to be the anti roll bar drop links

a fiver on ebay and 2 minutes to change could solve your problem

and while the wheel is off you can have a poke about to see if anything else is wrong with the suspension

Sounds like the caliper slides are worn or the pads are rattling in the carriers.

if noise is there only when the brakes are off I would say pad rattle in the carrier as said by Glenn, otherwise the usual suspects are drop links and coil springs.

Thanks for your messages,

If it is pad rattle which may be the case as it makes the most sense, is it safe to drive?

Safe yeah, more annoying than a problem.

If you jack the front wheels up and then bang the sidewall of the tyre with your fist you will normally hear the noise.

I just saw YouTube videos of people suffering the same problem and which appears to be the same sound it makes on my car (loose brake pad)

Now, how do I go about tightening that DIY?

if its pad rattle you might have to replace the pads with a better fitting set.
