Crumbs Batman, in that case it should shine!!! I'm going to do mine again before Central Day at the Pod (just wax it that is) then it'll get done roughly every 2-3 months. As for Diamond Brite, imo is a load of pish, my mate used to be a valeter for Vauxhall (and helped himself to loads of this to sell on ebay ) and it's more of a protection thing than a decent polish.

Diamond brite rocks on Mercury Grey (see above)

The conserver is the best polish i have used for revitalising to a mirror finish, the last time i actually polished the car was in about October 2003 when i applied the sealing stuff and it's my daily driver so gets filthy in the week
Now i just put some in the wash bucket and everyone thinks i've spent hours polishing the car

I use williams F1 at the mo, which is pretty good

I get that too everytime I clean my car even though it hadn't been polished for 6 months!! If you use a good 'waxy' wash (I use Autoglym) + are very thorough when cleaning then you can get away with it!!

Dom, bit rich coming from someone with a 15yr old shonky Saff?!?!

...and I was gonna offer to polish your car for you at Central Day!!

Andy, my point is it's as abrasive as Brasso (looks like it too and IIRC it stinks! )

Cleaning a car is like painting a car - it's all in the preperation. You shouldn't need to polish a often ..... IF

you clean it properly (this may include polishing of some sort/oxidisation removal), then when the paint is lovely and clean, you protect it with high content wax.

Then all you need to do is spot maintain buzzard crap etc, and as long as you don't use a car wash/petrol station jetwash (which will strip the wax), a quick wash and chamois is all that's required.

Most of these polishes just keep removing paint.........check your polishing cloth if in doubt

Billabong, i very rarely wash the car, Everyday if its dusty i wipe it over with a damp chamois leather and then the day after il probably polish it again.

Today was the first time ive washed the car since ive owned it, bought some Mer, went to jetwash and came home to polish it.

Washed my car on Friday for the first time since polishing it last weekend and I'm even more seriously AMAZED at the Meg's wax. You could feel the layer as you were cleaning/then drying, very strange! The whole process was effortless, even the bird shit (thats been on there for most of the week ) left no marks in the paint, which always happened when using Autoglym as the FRS paint is very soft. There wasn't a water mark in sight and now it looks like it's freshly polished and just as well waxed still. Even the Meg's tyre stuff actually stayed on too!!

I've been a proper bufty on all of my cars over the years using Autoglym products but I never thought I would be sooo amazed by a different product!!

Which one Kev?? I'm using NXT Tech Wax which is superb, just as easy as Autoglym without the dust , my mates used Gold Class before + said it was an arse to take off. You're best using the Meg's applicators + terry towels for the job, seems to make life 10 times easier. Autoglym Super Resin and Gold both made a right fuck up of both mine and my Dad's Focus RS's, be warned, that's why I tried Meg's. Left loads of marks in the paint + is a bastard to take off, which is very unlike Autoglym?!

Fancy purple/green pad Kev?? Same coloured bottle?!? If so then thats NXT, should be quality?! Perhaps you didn't leave it on enuogh? I left mine on for about 3 hours whilst I had the wheels off etc!

That being said I only left it on the wheels for a few minutes and it came off fine. FAR better protection than the Autogylm too as brake dust used to stick around my freshly polished front wheels in a line next to the discs butnot with Meg's!

Came off piece of piss actually, I use the Meg's terry towels though, Autoglym was an ARSE to get off with normal polishing rag, perhaps the rags the problem on the Focus?!!

As for the brake dust, aye, a pain, I've got Ferrodo DS2500 pads and the dust really seems to cling to the wheels, well before I used Meguiars.
