Hi all, new to the site and have problem with the new motor. I have a very strange idling problem, it starts up at 1100rpm and when warm its at 1300rpm. when I drive its normal and nor chucking or no bad throttle response
when I clutch it will rev up to 2700rpm and release the clutch it stays there when braking till I come to a complete stop it goes back to 1300rpm? I have cleaned the throttle befor this which may of cause it as I know now your not suppose to clean a throttle but I have changed the throttle to a new one and been careful with it. also new TPS gone in aswell but problem still the same

Yes you have an idle speed control valve which is the likely fault.
They also have a breather hose which is common to split, it's a T piece located under the inlet manifold.

The speed sensor fault normally causes it to rev up with the clutch depressed but still rolling and the engine still revving as if u were doing that speed and when u stop the engine goes back to idle

On the gearbox.
Above where the drivers side driveshaft goes into the 'box.
3 pin electrical connector.
Also have a look at the clutch pedal, should have a switch on it, make sure its connected.

It's on top of the gearbox. Some of them have the speedo cable going into a unit which has a plug on it which sends a signal to the ECu and the cable runs the speedo dial where as some are just electronically controlled to ECu and speedo (no cable) if it has the speedo cable going into the speed sensor unit u can unplug the electrical plug and the speedo cable will keep the speedo dial working

I've had loadsa ford kas and fiestas and escorts do this (used to work at ford main dealer) at one point we had one a week coming in with this fault where independent garages had fitted throttle position sensors, idle air control valves and goodness knows what else and 50% of the time it was the gearbox speed sensor and the other 50% it was the ECu at fault :-( hope that helps
