defragment problem

Default defragment problem

i wanna defrag my backup D but when i try it says it cannot because of Chkdsk has being scheduled to run on it, how do i remove Chkdsk from runnin on it so i can defrag it please

try hitting CTRL+AlT+DEL and closing down as many processes as you can. You want as little as possible running when you defragment your drives as any files that are currently being read/used will not be included in the defrag

Better still is to run it with the PC in safe mode

From memory, go into Control Panel, and then into Scheduled Tasks (there should also be an icon in your system tray (by your clock) for this aswell......if there's anything in there regarding Chkdsk (disk-checking utility built into Windows), then delete it.

You should now be able to defrag your drives (it may take a reboot after deleting scheduled tasks, but shouldn't do).
