Twin turbo question

Default Twin turbo question

I'm going to be mocking up and fabricating my 2 manifolds soon for my boa conversion as was wondering what's people's views on placing the lambdas is there a specific distance away from the turbos they have to be or does it not matter due there lone perpose

And are 2 t2's sufficient for making sensible power due to the room in the engine bay and the fact I already have one

I've got a load of 10mm flat steel and some but fixings left over from a job at work unsure on the gauge but the 10mm flat should be ok for the head plate and turbo plate?

Have a word with my mate Ade (Ade500 on here) as he has a pukka BOA twin turbo he built so he'll have the answers!

I would use 12mm - 15mm for the head plate.

pm ade500 his motor is a work of art.

I helped Ade a little bit when he was putting it all back in and I can confirm, it's not easy!

Everything is so, so tight but it all fits just right! Attention to detail is spot on!

Makes my pile of shit look, well, shit!

So glad he's got it all up and running again after all the grief he's had with it, deserves some good luck with it now!

t2's may run out of puff at the top end, t25's would be what i'd go for if you want power without wanting to spend months building them in the limited space

t2's on the 12v were great as they ran out of puff towards the top end due to them not being able to breathe, but with the 24v flowing much more air at 6500 you can make power all the way to the red line

oil flow is a worry though as you'll need a higher flowing pump to supply the turbos

T2 is very vague, but then so is sensible power.

Lambda sensors dont like excessive heat or pressure. So stick them in the downpipe at least 12" from the turbo.

I always prefer a min of 12mm for flanges. Leaves room to machine flat if they warp.

And if you can adapt cast manifolds, they can work well too and are generally fairly robust.

I may look into the t25s as I don't want silly power but I don't want to restrict the power if I can push for more,

I was think about the oil pump as that's 2 extra high pressure runs I have to feed for the pump to handle

Ok cool ill buy some more plate as the cast manifolds are ok but at least with my own manifolds I can locate the turbo anywhere
