I kinda have two of them. Neither of them are mental or anything but both of them have more under the bonnet that you would assume by the standard or near standardish looks. And both of them have surprised some unsuspecting Audi and BMW drivers.
-EDIT- What would I have then? I have been toying around with the thought of getting an STW Taunus (Cortina mk4) and building a 400+bhp Pinto turbo for it. I really wanna do this at some point, but the current turbo Sierra has still too much to improve on for me to start with another project.

It's about as far away from a sleeper as you can get.

I want to drop a BDT in the back of my fiesta and run all group b rally car suspension etc, just tint the windows to hide it all. Reckon it would be epic.

PassionFord Post Whore!!
I think the Transit with XJ220 running gear takes some beating for a sleeper.

Its for real. Was built by TWR in the early 90's as a rolling testbed.
It was lighter than the 220 & would hit 60 quicker!
Top speed at Millbrook was 170 mph. At that speed it was drifting across the whole track.
One lucky engineer (Patrick Walker) used to take it home at weekends for milage accumulation. He used to sit in the middle lane of the M40 in 2nd gear waiting for a Sierra Cosworth to come up behind & flash him to move over, then he'd plant the loud pedal && leave the cossie for dead

If I had the time and/or money I'd love to get a clean mk1 ford focus saloon in this colour or black and weld it to cossie floor pan leave it looking completely standard even keep all interior standard, descent suspension set up but sprayed original ford factory colour so it all looks original!
