Reason i ask is i want to fit a Garrett turbo (probably a T34) to my car (KKK as standard) but this means a manifold change and the only one i can find is s/s and quite dear, as i'm only after 300-330bhp i thought a cossie manifold grafted to the one i've got now would solve the problem, obviously it all needs offering up to see if it all fits and clears everything but it would be alot cheaper than a s/s job i reckon, plus stronger from some of the nightmare stories about s/s ones i've read on here. which of the cossie ones would be best to use or wont it make any difference for the power i'm after?

You CAN do cast iron, but it is a bit tricky. You have to preheat the part, use a certain type of filler rod to do the welding, then cool it down VERY slowly to avoid cracking and minimize residual stress in the material

I`ve sucessfully welded a steel tube to a cast manifold (2.9 cosie).
No problem, used an arc welder.
Bit of heat distortion, won`t be a problem once skimmed.
It will be interesting to see how long it lasts!
