What sort of power can I expect from the zetec with air filter, exhaust, fast road cams and a custom map also what would be the best way to spend about £1500 on a standard 1.6 turbo and what power should I expect

I thought about that but as I'm only 18 I wouldn't be able to afford to insure it for a few years

At 18 I doubt very much you'll be able to insure a CVH turbo or 2 litre Zetec swap either.

If I start this project I won't be able to start it for a couple of months until my garage is clear and once I start it I intend on doing everything properly as I don't want to be taking it apart most weekends spend 4 hours to replace something that would have take 2 minutes to do whilst the engine was out and I don't want a car the looks like it was slapped together in a hurry by a 4 year old and when the project is finished it should only cost a couple of hundred to change my policy from a 1.6 to a 2.0 or 1.6 turbo then about 2000 again when I have to renew my policy and that's what I had to pay this year just for a standard 1.6

couple of hundred to go to a CVH turbo or 2 litre Zetec. You are being very hopeful, would think you'll be looking more like an extra 1000 for either engine swaps.

Or I could just do what many people don't and bolt in the new engine and not tell anyone and have cheap tax and insurance as the cars will be 1.4 and 1.6 on the national database

then you get pulled over and the car gets taken off you, 6 points on your license, your current insurance would get cancelled then find it very difficult to get insurance in the future.

or you have a crash, police turn up you get all of the above and have to cover the cost of the accident your self.

is it really worth the risk?

Yh well let me worry about the insurance all I know is I can just about afford the 2 litre and for some reason the 1.6 turbo is only 900 pound more then the standard car and 1500 less then the 2 litre all I want to know is what engine is the better option for power tunablility and reliabity

the cvh should id of thought be cheaper as you can just use rs turbo standard parts on it, where a zetec will need custom parts/work.

The CVH turbo will make more power than the Zetec NA and for far less money, if the engine is in good condition and all the old MFI parts are working ok then with just an intercooler, .36/50 T3 and suitable clutch you will see around 220bhp.

You might be able to pick a complete turbo up and swap all the bits over
I'd check what the insurence say first dude
I've always liked the Cvh but it can get more power from a zetec turbo easier
