Putting 2 Stroke in with Diesel

Whats thoughts on this?
A lot of people on the mondeo forum are putting 2 Stroke oil in with their diesel when they fill up (around 300ml to 50L IIRC) Apparently it has to be mineral oil and not synthetic oil.
My car has 115k on it now and has never had oil added so I don't see the point in this TBH?

surely anything that reduces the lubricating properties of the diesel fuel in modern engines cant be good..
I know it's oil your adding but it's not designed for use in high pressure diesel pumps and being atomized through injectors..
not for me...

Two stroke oil is perfectly legal for road use. It can't be illegal, how many two stroke bikes are on the road? ![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
Years ago sulfur in diesels done all the lubricating needed. Unfortunately modern day diesels are generally low in sulfur so lubricate far less, couple in the use of Biodiesels and you have a fuel that lubricates far less than it used to. Garages use their own additive packages to increase cetane levels, to keep the engine clean and also to increase lubricity which is why diesel is never just diesel and quality does change from garage to garage.
Two stroke oil will help to lubricate fuel pumps, injectors and the upper cylinder. It also increases the cetane level of diesel so you get a cleaner burn.
Two stroke oil is a long term preventative maintenance additive. Used over time in correct dosages (1:200 is recommended I think) you will have increased the longevity of the engine and fuel system, increased fuel economy and have a cleaner engine all round.

Just a quick one, Mine has a DPF filter and if i mix a little 2 stroke oil in with the fuel would this cause problems ? Just asking out of interest because i have never heard of anyone doing this.

never heard of this , when mines was a diesel I run it a few times on 50/50 veg oil /diesel and it was fine as above think it was quieter but it was still rather slow , I don't think modern diesels would like it much mind you too sensitive

So is this ok for any diesel car, won't bugger up modern pumps/injection systems etc? Might sling some in my mondeo see what happens. Only problem is its got one of those cap less filler necks so think you've got to mess about with a special funnel or something to put any additives in the tank.
