Trailing arm bush failure symptoms?

Probably a lot of flex and movement but is difficult to tell. I put money on it the car would be noticeably better with new ones and not nearly 30yrs old .
Definately want them for mine as mine isn't as 'solid' as it could be but still ok. Its gonna be money well spent imo.

yh it feels all over the place and iv still got this issue of my wheels getting lost in the arches when backing out my sloped driveway etc hoping a set of new trailing arm bearing bushes and poly beam mount bushes will transform the back end.

It will wander, especially at high speed. And during braking it will be instabile because it will pull the rear wheel into a toe out position if there is play in the bushes.

I'm hoping this issue i have is cured by changing the bushes its not so bad now as i have changed from konis to coil overs but imo shouldnt be this drastic even on Konis as i never had any issues with my saph running this setup nor does my dad in his 500.. this is just pulling out my driveway on a slight incline.

Glenn, yhep i have a poly diff mount its done 70miles so i know thats not the problem unless its been installed incorecctly but dont see how thats possible /

Hi Marc, I know its weird as we have 2 other cars thats come out the same driveway and none do that.
Iv got new standard ford beam bushes but have just ordered some poly onesand orderd original trailing arm bushes hoping to have them here early next week.

On the pics it's very difficult to see what happens. Basically I can only see on one side the suspension compresses and on the other side it decompresses. But I cannot see any toe or camber angles.

Bushes won't cause that and that IMO is not a problem suspension is articulating what else do you want?
I think the corner weights are all over the place due to coilovers causing handling problems which is making you think it's wrong.
You can check by parking on flat floor take measurements from floor to arch front and rear
then jack the front up from the centre of crossmember wheels off floor 2 inch take measurement on the back
Repeat on rear jacking on center of diff and measure front arches.
The compression measurements on the front axle and rear axle will give you an indication of weight each wheel is carrying.
Adjusting it is another longer story.

You can check the bushes like they do at the mot - with a lever bar to check for movement. I really don't see what the problem is with that travel or the fact one car does it and the other doesn't - maybe the other 2 cars are wrong and the springs have sagged that much they stay flat? Or the arb are weaker and they aren't influence they chassis as much, or maybe your shell is stiffer etc.
When you fitted coilovers how did you set them up, because the only problem you've said is the handling is disconnected.
